ingrid's list was created for travelers, business people, and families who enjoy fine dining but would prefer to do so without spending a lot of money. The idea was to create an exclusive list of fine dining restaurants across America and then provide guests with the opportunity to buy a three-course meal at a significantly reduced price. At the time, it was unimaginable to provide Restaurant Week values year round. Nobody thought it could be done except for one, very energetic person. Our founder, Ingrid Croce.
The idea was perfect and Ingrid Croce was the right person to make it happen. After all, Ingrid has owned and operated Croce's Restaurant & Jazz Bar, one of the top fine dining restaurants in downtown San Diego, since 1985. She built it as a tribute to her late husband, singer-songwriter Jim Croce, who died in a plane crash in the early seventies while topping the charts with "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," "Time in a Bottle" and "You Don't Mess Around with Jim."
Ingrid Croce is also very familiar with the popular Restaurant Week dining concept found in major cities across the United States. Ingrid helped start San Diego's version, which has grown to be one of the most successful restaurant events in the country, now host to more than 200,000 people yearly. And even more amazing, she donated all of her time to organizing the event. One thing has always been consistent with Ingrid: at the core of her pursuits as a restaurateur, musician, author, philanthropist, and mother, she's always performed her activities with great energy, passion, and love.
